Callard - Named after Don Callard who resides in the San Diego county area of California.

I recently picked up this beauty from Charles Alford in June 2009. He [Charles Alford] believes that it may be "either a sport or hybrid of P. andinum, but it is quite unlike the other P. andinum, I am familiar with".

Not quite sure about the temperature range, since I have had it just a short time but probably this staghorn fern can take temperatures from 40 to 90 degrees - it will be kept outside year long and prefers morning light or a dappled light all day with a mild breeze.

The mounting medium is AAA New Zealand Sphagnum Moss and then the fern is attached to a 12 x 12 teak raft with 40lb monofilament fishing line. When fertilizing - I use either Miracle-Gro or Superthrive every 3rd or 4th watering.

I'm not sure if this particular mounting is any better than the redwood backboards that I use, but only time will tell. There currently none available for sale but if interested in a future pup please e-mail me at mailto:tomsstaghornferns@gmail.com.
